Description

A bottle of malt beer for your horse a day? Many horse owners know this as a huge bonus. Malt beer is fed to support appetite, appearance and performance. The alcohol-free malt beer has long been known as a tonic. Already in the 18th century, non-alcoholic malt drinks were recommended in human nutrition for women who have recently given birth, weak people, lung patients and convalescents. Functional food products also often contain malt, and some chocolate bars containing malt are also advertised as having performance-enhancing and mobilising properties. Malt sweets are also known and popular for protecting the throat.

But what is special about malt?
Malt itself is controlled germinated grain which, after the germ has been removed, has been kilned, ie dried under certain conditions. During this germination process, enzymes are increasingly formed that break down protein (proteases), starch (amylases), cellulose (cellulase) and pentosans (pentosananses). The enzymes convert the reserve substances in the grain into soluble substances that allow the germ to grow. However, germination is then stopped. The resulting green malt is made storable via the kiln process: after twelve hours of drying at 35 to 40°C, the temperature is increased to 80 to 105°C for four to five hours in order to obtain a lighter or darker malt colour depending on the use. This creates a very special roasted aroma typical of malt.

EquiMall
In the mall brewery in Meckesheim near Heidelberg, five different selected types of malt are now mixed, crushed and then "mashed" with water to produce the malt-yeast drink EquiMall. A special temperature control reactivates the enzymes. This slow process gives rise to a multitude of nutrients, vital and active substances. Various sugar compounds have a nourishing effect, as they only occur in this composition in malt extract. These are mainly maltose, malt sugar, maltotrienose and various glucose compounds. The primary flavours are mainly maltol and isomaltol. Various volatile organic acids, polyphenols and breakdown products from protein compounds such as amino acids and peptides, as well as nucleoside compounds show the abundance of different nutrients and active substances that result from the enzymatic breakdown of the grain. A multitude of secondary and tertiary smells and flavours bring fullness and body to the taste.

EquiMall forte
The tried and tested malt and yeast drink was concentrated four times.

High enzyme activity
The malt enzymes also promote the digestion of corn starch, protein and fibre in the horse's intestine. Starch digestion in particular can be a bottleneck for some horses.

Rich in antioxidants
EquiMall contains a number of natural phenolic compounds such as flavonols, catechins and anthocyanogens via the malt. These antioxidant substances contribute to the protection of the horse's heart, blood vessels, muscles, skin and nervous system.

A purely natural product
While common malt beer is mixed with sugar, caramel and carbonic acid, EquiMall is a purely natural product. The dark colour and the sweet taste result from the extremely high concentration of malt in this product.

Herbs and yeast
As part of the manufacturing process, various spices and herbs are added to the mash, which give EquiMall a fine taste and also support the natural digestive function. After adding liquid fresh yeast, the malt beverage EquiMall is gently heated and packed airtight using a vacuum process. Due to the patented filling technology, no premature spoilage can occur, the product can be kept without preservatives.

Use of EquiMall
EquiMall is not only interesting for performance horses, but also for stimulating the appetite and optimizing the digestion of old horses and breeding horses. The high yeast content of the product particularly supports the development of healthy intestinal flora in the long term. Fresh yeast is rich in natural vitamin B and is recommended to support the intestinal flora and in phases of increased performance requirements. Foals and broodmares also benefit from daily feeding.
