Description
Nr. 5 Frühlingserwachen
Fluctuating basic feed quality, previous infections or worms, consuming ragwort, other poisonous plants or medications can put more stress on the liver than usual. A higher intake of fat due to excess nutrients or harmful metabolic products from low-calorie diets can also stress out the liver.
An overwhelmed liver manifests itself in reduced performance, fatigue and disorders of the immune system like chronic bronchitis or sweet itch. Hormonal imbalances and a bad mood, aggression and unwillingness to perform can also be signs of liver problems. Disorders can usually only be identified using blood work. This is often far too late because the liver, as a highly regenerative organ, only shows signs of damage when it is already bad off.
A selected mixture of bitter plant substances
The No. 5 Spring Awakening is made of carefully selected herbs and plants that contain bitter substances in pure pharmaceutical quality, on a base of artichokes and milk thistles. This ensures a particularly high proportion of bitter substances. Bitter substances are secondary plant substances.
Why bitter substances are important for horses:
Bitter substances aren't just important for horses with liver problems. They promote the secretion of bile and thereby maintain a basic environment in the intestine, creating a kind of buffer system that counteracts over-acidification. Bitter substances in the diet also support the prevention of laminitis and colic. They promote digestion, have a cleansing and regenerating effect on the liver and increase appetite, which is good for horses with stomach problems. Bitter substances are now considered to be particularly important for health.
Use all year round
Feeding your horse herbs and roots that contain bitter substances is particularly important while shedding, after worming, for sluggish horses or horses with digestive problems. Bitter substances can be safely added to your horse's feed all year round. If there is no alternative to poor hay, straw or grain quality, bitter herbs can promote bile flow for intestinal detoxification.
Bitter substances should not be missing in the diets of horses with laminitis or EMS. They actively help to remove metabolic metabolites. They can also be helpful for horses with Cushing's disease.
Horses prone to allergies and sweet itch generally have a higher need for bitter substances. The No.4 Gold Value can also be helpful for them.
Feeding recommendation:
