Description

Stiefel Biotin strengthens the hooves and the coat. Stiefel Biotin compensates for feed-related biotin deficiencies. A biotin deficiency can have negative effects on hoof horn growth. Elasticity and resilience can be affected. Stiefel Biotin is based on the highly effective triple formula biotin, methionine and zinc.

Stiefel Biotin is based on the triple formula: biotin, methionine and zinc. It strengthens hoof horn growth as well as the coat and the skin. Biotin (vitamin H) plays an important role in the fat and sugar metabolism. Biotin has positive effects on the skin, coat and hoof horn. Deficiencies can lead to scaly coat, skin problems and bad hoof horn quality with insufficient elasticity.

Biotin is synthesised by micro-organisms in the intestinal flora of healthy horses. Deficiencies occur when this synthesis in the intestinal flora is no longer guaranteed. Deworming treatments, for example, may disturb the intestinal flora and hamper such synthesis processes. Methionine is a sulphur-carrying amino-acid that is very important for the formation of connective tissue. The organism can convert the added methionine to cysteine, which is in turn used as a building block for keratin. Keratin strengthens the hoof horn. Zinc has an important role in the formation and regeneration of the skin, hair and hoof horn cells.

Feeding should continue for a prolonged period (at least 9 months), as biotin can only have an effect on the growth of new hoof horn cells. NOTICE: The hoof grows on average by 1 cm per month.

Feeding recommendation:
Horses (600 kg body weight) 10 g per day
Small horses 5 g per day
(1 heaped measuring spoon = approx. 10 g)

This feed contains more feed additives than complete feeds and is therefore restricted to a maximum of 50 g per day.

HINT: Stiefel Biotin should be fed for a minimum period of 9 months. Store the feed in a cool and dry place protected against direct sunlight. Use soon after opening. Store out of reach of small children.
