Description
Biophilic minerals
Using the example of Icelandic horses, we learned some years ago that a lack of supply of the trace elements zinc, copper and selenium can lead to skin problems such as eczema, muscle tension, poor appetite, imbalance and poor performance. Only with the feeding of organically bound trace elements instead of inorganic (conventional) compounds could the blood values normalise and the coat and general condition significantly improve.
Since then we have had similar experiences with a large number of horses of various breeds. Biophilic minerals and trace elements can be found as amino acid chelates or as sugar compounds, as ingredients of yeast, algae or dairy products. However, not all organic mineral compounds are equally well absorbed by the organism! Only the most usable ones should be used for feeding.
Stressed, over-acidic and immune-labile horses, allergy sufferers, eczema sufferers and horses with metabolic disorders may have an increased need for trace elements.
Even with all-day grazing or ample hay allocation, there can be a deficiency in minerals and trace elements for the following reasons:
- Overuse and one-sided fertilisation of pasture and arable land
- Mineral leaching by acid rain
- Lack of mineral-rich herbs
- Weed varieties that do not store enough minerals
- Increased needs of the horse through an abundant supply of grain and protein, or as a result of posture and usage-related stressful situations
- Additional needs from breeding animals, high-performance or older horses
- Change of coat
To improve the supply, it is often sufficient to feed relatively small amounts of biophilic minerals.
Natural regulative protein building blocks
The regulative protein building blocks (amino acids, peptides and protein molecules) are an important discovery in recent nutritional research. They are found as natural nutrients in plant seeds, grain germs, milk and yeast products. They support the function of trace elements and vitamins in the organism and are particularly suitable when combined with biophilic minerals for natural health and performance optimisation. The immune defense, the metabolism, the horse's ability to cope with stress and to regenerate quickly after a state of exhaustion benefit from this in particular.
Vital health and new performance reserves
MicroVital is a supplementary feed for horses that, with its combination of biophilic minerals, trace elements and regulative protein components, offers the right choice and the best possible quality of these natural nutritional components.
The biophilic minerals and trace elements are measured in such a way that, when combined with concentrated feed or mineral-vitamin feed, there are no problematic overdoses, but the feed ration is harmonized according to nature's example. Less is often more!
MicroVital is recommended for supplementary feeding of all horses with health, wellbeing and performance restrictions. In addition, it is particularly suitable for supplementing nutrients when there is a shortage of zinc, iron, copper, manganese, selenium, iodine and cobalt.
Explanation of terms:
Minerals include both the bulk elements such as calcium, phosphorus and magnesium, as well as trace elements, which in small amounts perform vital physiological functions. Biophilic (literally: "life-friendly") minerals are particularly well utilised in the organism due to their specific organic bond form.
Feeding recommendation:
- As a supplement to the usual basic feed supply with roughage and/or pasture grass, we recommend approx. 15-20g per 100kg body weight per day.
